Between January 2023 and March 2023, Research 8020 embarked on a journey to discover the top 10 musicians in Tanzania. The study examined the popularity of musicians in Tanzania. This would help inform industry players and also set the stage for comparisons.

Without any further ado, here is the list of the top 10 musicians in Tanzania in 2023:

1. Diamond Platnumz

Diamond Platnumz is a bongo flava recording artist, dancer, philanthropist, and businessman from Tanzania. He has grown in popularity in East and Central Africa. He became the first African-based artist to surpass one billion views on YouTube. Diamond is a controversial artist in matters ranging from girlfriends to his lifestyle. This has not hindered him in skyrocketing Tanzanian music to an international level. His international collaborations with notable musical maestros are proof of the 33-year-old hitmaker’s versatility. The hit single “Yope remix” which Innoss’B features him amassed over 205 million views as of March 2023.

2. Rayvanny

The Tanzanian crooner has proven to be a household name for quite some time now. This is evident as his hit single ‘Number one’ featuring Zuchu has garnered massive numbers. The hit single has amassed over 77 million views as of March 2023.

3. Harmonize

The ‘Aiyola’ hit-maker has so much to be proud of. This is because of the strides he has taken to be where he is right now. His hit single “Kwangwaru” in which he featured his then Wasafi label compatriot Diamond Platnumz proved successful.  The banger has amassed over 102 million views as of March 2023.

4. Zuchu

Zuchu is a Tanzanian singer and songwriter born in Zanzibar. She is based in Dar es Salaam and signed to WCB Wasafi record label. The hit single ‘Sukari’ has received mass approval from different walks of life. The song has amassed over 87 million views as of March 2023. This has established her as one of the most sorts after musical acts in the nation.

5. Mbosso

Mbosso has been a sensational figure in the Tanzanian musical sphere for a long time. The first time as one of the members of the Yamoto boy band before he joined Wasafi Record Label. His hit single “Baikoko ” has established him as a dominant figure in the Tanzanian music scene. With over 44 million views as of March 2023, the song’s momentum is still on. 8. Marioo

Marioo is the stage name of Tanzanian singer, songwriter, poet, and music producer Omary Ally Mwanga. He primarily produces, performs, and curates bongo flava and Kiswahili amapiano music. His debut album “The Kid You Know”  established him as a major Bongo Fleva star. 10. Lava Lava

Lava Lava is a Tanzanian musician signed under the Wasafi Record Label. His hit single “Tuachane “ has amassed over 19 million views as of March 2023. This places him among the most popular Tanzanian musicians.
