Between January 2023 and March 2023, Research 8020 embarked on a journey to discover the top 10 musicians in Nigeria. The study examined the popularity of musicians in Nigeria. This would help inform industry players and also set the stage for comparisons.
Without any further ado, here is the list of the top 10 musicians in Nigeria in 2023:
1. Burna Boy
Burna Boy rose to stardom in 2012 after releasing “Like to Party”. Since then, he hasn’t slowed down given his song “On the low” has garnered over 323 million views. The song is one of the most viewed songs in Africa and cements his title as truly the “African Giant”.
2. Wizkid
Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun professionally known as Wizkid rose to the limelight after releasing “Holla at Your Boy” in 2011. The musical maestro doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. This is seen by the numbers his hit single “Joro” has garnered over time. Having 229 million views as of March 2023.
3. Davido
Rising to fame after releasing “Dami Duro” in 2012, Davido’s musical prowess doesn’t seem to relent. His dominance in the African music industry is unmatched. His song ”Fall” has racked in over 259 million views as of March 2023. This cements his place on our list as one of the most popular artists in Nigeria.
4. Rema
Rema has been releasing one banger after another for quite some time now. His hit single ‘Calm down’ has been on the record charts for the longest time. The song has received over 411 million views as of March 2023. This has propelled him among the most popular artist in Nigeria. The song received positive public acceptance worldwide. This even led to the American chart-topping pop star Selena Gomez hoping for a collaboration. What an achievement!
5. P-Square
The twin duo of Peter Okoye and Paul Okoye popularly known as PSquare ruled the airwaves for a long time. Their dominance is evident as seen by their track “Personally”. 6. Tekno Miles

9. Kizz Daniel
